Peter Pumpkin in Wonderland

Peter Pumpkin in Wonderland by Ida M Huntington, illustrated by Mary Isabel Hunt.

Hardback clothbound: published 1908 by Rand McNally & Company.

Book has 7 colour plates, four black and white plates with text drawings throughout.

Seven different stories from seven different dreams: including The Toy’s Christmas and The Mermaid’s Summer Holiday.

Not easy to track down, but sometimes around on Abebooks if you’re lucky.

“Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater
Strange, queer dreams has Master Peter;
Fairy Folk around him dwell
How he fares, our stories tell.”

Through a Peerglass: Winnie’s Adventures in Wastemonster

Through a Peerglass: Winnie’s adventures in Wastemonster by Arthur Waghorne. Published by Hodder and Stoughton, 1908.

Frontispiece and 44 other illustrations by David Wilson.

A political satire based on Alice in Wonderland, including Lloyd George, Asquith, and the House of Lords in concert. Main character is Winnie Churchill.

First Edition, First Impression. Large 8vo.

My copy is rather worn and tatty, but as the cheapest available on abe are usually around the £300 mark, I think I’ll stick with it…

Bought on abebooks for £25. Bargain.
