Pandect of C.L.D.

Pandect of C.L.D., allegedly written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) with a foreword and postscript by Morris L. Ernst.

Privately printed at the Peter Pauper Press, 1965.

Hardback, with dustjacket.

Dedication reads:

Holiday Greetings for your own Adventures in the Wonderland of 1966: Morris L. Ernst

According to wiki:

Ernst was a strong supporter of J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI. In 1940, as head of the ACLU, he agreed to bar communists from employment there and even discouraged their membership, basing his position on a distinction between the rights of the individual and the rights of groups.

Apparently, the “kindly hoax” took in at least two distinguished editors of the day.
